Hi,

I just got my Wii last week, and have been spending all my time on Wii tennis and Smash Bros. Brawl, so I haven't figured out all the other aspects of the Wii. What is Wii connect 24? I know there is Wii wi-fi, and that it is different, but what are the differences? Also, I've herad a rumour that one of the services is free. Is that True? Anyhow, if anyone can give me some info into this, I'd greatly appreciate it. BTW, I'm LOVING the Wii!

Wiiconnect24 is the feature that allows your wii to check for updates, messages, and other things in wifi games, such as challenges in mario kart wii.
Also it makes a small number of wiis overheat, ruining the chraphics chip, so you get random black dots on the screen (mine)

Thanks for the link. It is really informative. Unfortunately it doesn't really say how I set it up, but I can check my manual. Is it a free service? Right now I have a DSL modem for my internet, would I need some kind of connection to attach to the Wii? Do I need a wireless card if I go with Wireless internet? How much does Wii connect24 cost?

John WiiConnect is FREE!!!

If you do not alreay have WiFi setup in your home you can do 1 of 2 things.

1. Get a wireless router and set it up on your home network. You can still hard wire your Desktop (I assume you have this setup from your posts) through the wireless router.

2. Get the Nintendo USB WiFi Connector. I've never used this, but it is an option.

I would suggest Option #1.
