With the larger gaps between Ben and I being able to shoot the podcast and even larger gaps with doing stuff on the site. I wanted to open up a discussion on what we can do to make this site live on it's own if neither Ben and I can find too much time to work on it.

The forums are already alive and well. But I think we are going to need more help in the way of additional moderators to help keep things alive and kicking.

But aside form the forums what other steps do you think we can do to help keep the site current, fresh and keep people wanting to come back?

Here are some of the things I'm thinking about. Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas of your own.

  • Current up to date Wii news feeds from different websites
  • More moderators for the forums
  • Area to post when you'll be online playing a game and allow
  • others to sign up to say they will join you

  • Volunteers to organize larger online meetups and events
  • A REAL game review submission procedure so users can submit reviews and the best ones get posted (I know I said I would do this before, but this time it'll actually get done)

These are some of the bigger ideas I have. So let me know what you think and if you have any ideas of your own. I'm sad I can't spend as much time on this project as I would like these days, and don't want what we built to fall apart. Let's keep this community going and growing!

Maybe a simple chat room (Flash? Irc? Java?)

Ability for users to delete post in case they double post. (Though a moderator would be able to do this)

All I can think of for now....

Oh, and about the user submitted review things, I think that should be one of the top priorities, since it is a bit weird that the only one is a Ds game review lol.
But, how would you know people weren't just posting review that were copied from game sites?

I second (third, I guess, after duks) the review process. The other ideas sound great to me, I can't think of much else :/

yeah, I definitely agree with the part about more moderators, cause the forums are getting out of hand.
I like the idea of a place to say you are playing online, but i usually am not online long enough to say im on and play lots of rounds.
I really like the game review thing, and I think there should be some kind of penalty for posting other people's reviews (*cough*neder*cough*) because I could easily look up other reviews, but I want people's own opinions.
I like duks' idea about a simple chat service, something like Facebook comes to mind, but instead have the ability to have lots of people chatting on one window.
I dont know, there's not too much needed at this time besides those things. Good job guys.

Definately need moderators for the forums, and they must be ADULT moderators. There are way too many teens and younger people who are bashing others and posting mean things.

You need more content and changes that will bring in more adults. I think we need a good amount of both adult and teens etc.

Would love to see a page devoted to Wii game list, and release dates etc.

By the way, you guys make a great video podcast. Keep up with the large versions please!

i think that age shouldn't matter as long as the user acts mature and such

i think moderateors should also be in control of what gets posted as reveiws...

they should look at it and the user submitting should be like under a different thing than the forums

and you should also do this for articles and there should be a cited source

edit: moderators should also be able to shecdule those events
and mostly have most powers on the site
exept of course to completely change a person's post or the site

p.s. thanks for updateing everyone's badges!
lol just noticed it

Not only a way to submit reviews, but also news!!! Then people could visit this site for their Wii news. Also, on these articles, you can add IntenseDebate comments (intensedebate.com) for some discussion. I use them on the Wiire and Aeropause Games and find them great!!!
EDIT: In regaards to the chat room, try xat.com.

I like the idea of a calendar and a chat room. I also think we should have moderators that can delete unnecessary posts, rearrange forum topics to their correct location, and ban users for violation of rules, and add reviews to the review section. I think that Wii news is a great idea and would help bring more people into the community.

they should be able to ban people just like that

either the banning should get approved by arvin/ben or als the mods vote on it

yeah ive been thinking about that, and i thought, if they have set rules, and someone breaks them, they get banned for like a week or so and if they break them 3 times or whatever, then they get permanently banned, which would be a big thing if someone really cared about their post count or badges or something.

i agree rules would be good

plus if they were to be banned for only a certain amount of time they could just ask one other mod to support them in the decision to ban them for a little amount of time

you must not have read what i said

i said that mods must vote on it
and if it is just for a short period of time they only need one other person to approve

those are to prevent exactly that

you should fix the wii version website. i used internet explorer, maxthon2 and firefox, and it still says " 403 forbidden "

If I'm not here, I'm probably quietly crying in my room, mourning the loss of the greatest wii podcast ever, along with the death of such a friendly community.

i think that no users under a certain age should be moderators. that would end up being influenced by maturity and opinions.
